UNIVERSITY HALLS VERSUS FLATS

For those who have to study far away from home  choosing where to live is a controversial topic. There are two options, either go to a University hall live in a flat. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

If you live in a University hall you will live with some of your classmates and make new friends. On the other hand if you go to a flat, you may live with someone that you don’t know. Also you can share a flat with your friends but that can damage your relationships because you aren’t ready to live with them.

However, in a flat they are advantages. The main one is that you’re free,  you can go out and return whenever you want without explanations. While in some university halls you have a restricted timetable to return.

To sum up, I think that sharing a flat is the best option for those whoe need some space and freedom.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SHARING A FLAT

Most teenagers, who have to leave their houses so as to be close to their universities, have to choose between living in a flat or in a hall of residence.

On the one hand, living in a flat gives more independence and autonomy to students because they haven’t got a timetable to be at home. Also they mature sooner than other students due to all the housework they do such as clean, wash and cook. Furthermore, living in a flat with more than one housemate can be helpful to save money.

On the other hand, living in a hall of residence is usually the best option for students’ parents because their children are more controlled than in a flat. Even though a residence is usually more expensive than a flat, it lets students know and learn things from different people and increase their global vision of the world.

To sum up I believe that living in a hall of residence can be useful to learn by yourself and from the others. But it is known that the final choice depends on the parents.

Advantages and disadantages of sharing a flat

Sharing a flat with other students is a great option if someone wants to move from his parents’ house, but unfortunately can't afford it alone. However  it's difficult to share your house with a stranger or a friend, so which are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

On the one hand, if you are a person who can't afford to pay a flat alone, it's a very good option to reduce your expenses. In addition, sharing the housework with your flatmate,  lets you have more time to do other things, which is a great point.

On the other hand, you should be careful with choice of your flatmates. Sometimes a little problem can becomes worse and can  end up with the departure of one of you, or can make you have an argument with a friend.

To sum up, sharing a flat when you are studying is a very good and  financial option, but you have to make sure everybody does the same work in the house, or if the person with whom you are living thinks almost like you.

UNIVERSITY HALLS VS FLATS

Next year, me and many friends of mine intend to go to university out of our island, and that means leaving our parents' house. Shall we live in auniversity hall or shall we share a flat?

Living in a university hall has a lot of advantages: you don't have to worry about cooking or washing  your clothes, you can make a lot of new friends from other places. But living in a place like that means having some rules you may not like and most of the times it is more expensive than a flat.

On the other hand, living in a flat with other people has many advantages: it's cheaper than a university hall and you just have to follow the rules you and your partners chose. But it also has a lot of disadvantages like arguments with your flatmates.

To sum up, in my case, I think it’s better to share a flat because you can have more freedom and independency than in a university hall.
