GAY ADOPTION (FINAL VERSION)

These days homosexuality has become a reality: the number of gay couples is increasing. In addition, many of them are interested in raising a family and, for this reason, in adopting a child. Consequently, this topic is causing a great debate amongst many people and they give arguments for and against.

People supporting the gay adoption say that lots of children who have neither a mother nor a father need a family to grow up  and gay couples can adopt and look after a child as heterosexual couples, because the most important thing of adoption is giving children a home and someone to love them. Moreover, they claim that not only the parents but also the society influence a child's behaviour. So, the upbringing of gay couples' children doesn't have to be different to children who have a mother and a father.

Those who oppose this issue say that the children might be socially stigmatized because of having gay parents and their classmates will probably make fun of them. Furthermore, others believe that homosexual relationships don't last very long and this could be bad for children, who need a stable family. They also think gay upbringing is unnatural and consequently, children could become gay when they grow up because they have this example instiled.

To conclude I would say that I'm in favour of gay adoption and instead of looking for excuses about gay couples because this is opposite to their ideas, what people should do is try to see what's important here: lots of children without a home have the opportunity to have one and to be educated by a family who will love them.
