Modern society encourages consumerism making us buy things we don’t need.

Our society has become a superficial and consumer society where if you don't have a specific thing or item you won't be accepted by the majority. In addition, advertising and television have created robots who chase the last bargain which is obsolete and useless.

First of all, most people think that if they have a particular object like a T-shirt or  a mobile phone they will be happier but we don't realize that we are creating people with emotional problems. Instead of talking with a friend or with family they prefer buying to fill their emotional hole.

Secondly, our society sometimes unconsciously prejudges someone just because of how a person dresses. Furthermore, a lot of people only value the superficiality of a person and they forget the most important things: his behaviour, if he/she is a good person...

As I see it, this is one of the worst defects of our society because if we buy disproportionately we won't be happier and we won't be better for having last mobile phone.
