First year students should stay in university halls rather than share a flat_F

Every year most students choose to stay in university halls rather than share a flat when they go away to study. The university hall is a residential block in or attached to a university, college, etc. As far as I’m concerned, this sort of accommodation has more advantages than private accommodation for a student's first year.

First of all, you only have to look at the location. University halls are on campus, they are closer to the university where you will study. Consequently, you spend less money on transport and waste less time getting to class. Secondly, if you stay in the university hall, you will meet a lot of people, you will have the opportunity to meet different types of people and make a lot of new friends too. Last but not least, safety and security are better in university halls. University buildings have porters or security staff who can be an advantage if you need help. Nevertheless, private accommodation could be cheaper than staying in university halls. Sharing a flat also could be less noisy than a residence. Finally, if you share a flat you normally can choose with whom.

However and to sum up, I think that for a student’s first year the best option is to stay in university halls. After the first year, I’m sure that you are ready to share a flat with friends you have made in the residence.
