First of all, there are more people in the world, so there have to be more shops for them to buy. It means that people have more places and brands to try on clothes and things. Also people earn more money than in the past and they have to spend it on something, therefore shopping is one option. Furthermore present day prices have decreased a lot, so it makes people buy more. Moreover, present day product quality is lower, so people are automaticaly lead to buy more and more.
To sum up, people are indirectly lead to buy by consumerism. In consequence, they want to buy things when they like them. Only few people, like me, just buy things when they really need them.
